I founded Emily Lacey with my mom Eva in 1999. My mom bought some exquisite dresses for, yet to be born, Emily in a tiny store in Paris. Having befriended the owner, I began importing the dresses in bulk to make some extra money while I finished my MBA at Georgetown University. Shortly thereafter our French friend Ginette found herself in a bind. Her son had been in the US taking wholesale orders and was unable to stay and deliver them. She asked if we could deliver the wholesale orders and we took off from there. When Ginette retired we took over the business and have produced the most exquisite, unfailingly intricate smocked apparel that can be found in the market today.
Our dresses are made in a beautiful, bright home in Antananarivo, Madagascar. We have approximately 65 women and a few men working to create our meticulously designed and crafted works of art. "Les filles" as they are affectionately referred to, often bring their children to work and education and health care is a top priority.
Emily Lacey has been sold in boutiques from Paris to Palm Beach, we have been featured in many magazines, The New York Times style section and even on NBC. Over the years we produced private label collections for some of the most recognized brands in the high end children's apparel world. There is always a small collection of our finest offerings available on our website, we are frequently featured on Zulily and have just started to sell to stores again following an 8 year hiatus.
