Our Story

Our story is coming to an end.  Here is how it started...Emily Lacey was founded in 1999 after my mom purchased the most darling smocked dresses in Paris. We fell in love with the classic style and amazing craftsmanship and became close friends with the owner of the store.  In order to make extra money while pursuing my MBA at Georgetown University, I imported some dresses.  Starting with small booths on the Junior League circuit with the help of my mom Eva, Emily Lacey became a full fledged family affair and grew into a thriving retail, wholesale and private label business.  

When our friend retired and closed her boutique, we took over the manufacturing which is done in a beautiful home in Madagascar.  We worked with two generations of the most talented designers, seamstresses and embroiderers.  

I have now come full circle and live in Europe.  A close friend took over operations in the USA.  Unfortunately, the business climate has become untenable for a small business importing from an equally small partner.  Everything has become more difficult, unpredictable and expensive.  Perhaps one day things will change.
